From research to practice - Cooperations between practice and science

The department of Occupational, Social and Preventive Medicine is always looking for new cooperations and projects. Since our focus is on the health of working people, it is our mission to not only produce high-quality results but also to make sure that our findings find their way into practice. To achieve this, we have cooperated with a number of partners over the last couple of years. These include health insurances, accident insurances, different companies, healthcare providers, the automotive industry and many more.

In these projects we have extensively looked into multiple factors that can affect the health of working people. For example: working from home, new work, occupational illnesses, agile work environments, leadership and many more. Our institute uses the newest methods of AI and data science in order to produce future-orientated results and design easily available personalised solutions for every context. It is our goal to bring every aspect of work and health together in order to provide optimal solutions for everybody and to help bring research, practice, society and politics closer together.
We have recently developed a tried-and-tested framework that has been used in multiple projects, which enables us to quickly turn ideas into usable learning algorithms. It is our goal to further this framework and develop new ones in order to provide the best solutions for every person. In order to produce high-quality predictions with AI, large datasets are essential. Because of this we are always looking for cooperations which can help us secure new data in order to produce the best possible outcomes.

Recent achievements include:

  • A learning algorithm that was developed under the project BGM4NW, which gives employees individualised feedback on their work environment, personal competencies and possible occupational health measures.
  • A learning algorithm and social VR-System that are currently being developed as part of the project BAKI, which will help occupational doctors to better provide for and communicate with employees who work from physically dispersed locations.
  • A prevention score, which enables companies to better grasp the health of their employees. This score is part of the CPS project.

If you are interested in a cooperation or an exchange of ideas, we always welcome it, please contact us! Our interdisciplinary team is always open for dialogue and to discuss new ideas.
